State investigates sureties presented by jailed Tik toker

The authenticity of two sureties presented by jailed TikToker, Ibrahim Musana, accused of abusing leaders through his social media account, is under investigation by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

State Attorney Richard Birivumbuka requested the Magistrates Court at Buganda Road for time to investigate the legitimacy of the two sureties, Brenda Namboozo and Ibrahim Sembatya, whom Mr. Musana presented for his bail pending trial.

In response to the application, Mr. Birivumbuka informed the court of his intention to verify the residence of the two individuals and the statements made by Mr. Musana regarding his bail application. He requested a two-week adjournment for this purpose.

Mr. Musana has been in remand at Luzira Prison since February 2024, facing charges of computer misuse related to abusing leaders including the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II and President Museveni.

Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi granted a seven-day period for the state to verify the sureties, adjourning the case until March 15.

The prosecution, represented by Mr. Birivumbuka and Ms. Joan Keko, alleges that between August 2023 and February 2024 in Kampala District, Musana, using his TikTok account named Pressure 24/7, shared information likely to degrade or demean and promote hostility against leaders including Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among, and State Minister for Information Communication Technology Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo.

Court documents reveal that several individuals, including Jennifer Nakanguubi alias Full Figure, lodged complaints against Musana.
